In November 2013, after visiting the world exhibition on Smart Cities in Barcelona, the Mayor of Águeda challenged various companies in the region to make Águeda one such place. If the challenge was not accepted, the alternative was to speak to one of the large international companies already working in that area and buy a ready-made solution. Naturally, the challenge was accepted!
