The Intermunicipal Plan for Mobility and Transports in the Region of Aveiro (PIMTRA) aims to endow the region with a strategic and operational document that will serve as an “instrument of action and awareness that fosters the articulation between the different modes of transport aiming at the implementation of an integrated system of mobility (...) with the minimum cost of investment and operation, that allows to reduce the use of individual transport, and simultaneously ensure adequate mobility of the populations, promote social inclusion, the quality of urban life and the preservation of the architectural, environmental and historical heritage".
The strategic objectives of PIMTRA are the promotion of sustainable mobility, the integration of land and transport planning policies, the promotion of environmental quality, public health and safety, among others.
